Sfusobuono

Sfusobuono Alessandra Paolo

Sfusobuono is a new Italian brand making on high-quality, low-intervention artisanal wines in an alternative packaging, founded in 2020 by Alessandra and Paolo, a young couple from Piemonte.

Alessandra and Paolo combined the bag in box, a packaging solution known for its low environmental impact and consisting of a recyclable bag in a cardboard box, with high-quality wines from small, selected Italian wineries. To get the best possible quality wine, they partnered with organic, artisanal, independent winegrowers, who believe in low intervention, natural winemaking and focus on local native grape varieties. Sfusobuono is ‘as good as it sounds' meaning non-bottled (sfuso) and good (buono) wine.

One Bag-in-Box of Sfusobuono emits 80% less carbon of a bottle of wine

Sfusobuono’s superior environmental sustainability is based on two facts:

- Reduced food waste: the bag and the filling process protects the wine from oxygen, extending the product shelf life by 4-6 weeks once opened. So it’s perfect for couples that want to drink just a glass per day, for a party with friends and for anyone that doesn’t want to open a bottle for fear of spoiling the flavor.

- Low carbon footprint: a 3-liter Bag-in-box is a lot lighter than a standard bottle resulting in less weight to transport and therefore -80% in carbon emissions. The lighter and more recyclable the packaging, the smaller its carbon footprint. Also, carbon emissions from transport are lowered even when empty, thanks to the reduced volumes and weight compared to empty bottles.

The revolution of alternative packaging for artisanal wine is here: try and tap Sfusobuono!

Available Wines:

  • Sfusobuono Grechetto Umbria IGT

    Grechetto Umbria IGT by Roccafiore

This 100% Grechetto (Grechetto di Todi, to be precise) is made by Roccafiore in their benchmark fresh, light and juicy style from estate vineyards in the Todi area of Umbria. Fermented with native yeasts in temp-controlled stain-less steel vats without malolactic fermentation, it offers a dry, zesty and savory profile with plenty of yellow stone fruit. Its citrusy and floral bouquet with hints of green apple, makes this the perfect summer thirst-quencher!

Made from Certified Organic grapes, it is un-fined and unfiltered (suitable for Vegans).

This Grechetto is an easy to enjoy light white white, thanks to its low-alcohol and pleasantly savory taste. You can drink it on its own as a summer aperitif or paired with fish appetizers, such as bread, butter and Cantabrian anchovies, shrimp, tuna tartare and octopus and potato salad with olives. On the other hand, if you are looking for a slightly less fancy meal, it is great with fried egg, caesar salad, cherry tomatoes and Italian focaccia. This is our idea of boozy brunch!

  • Sfusobuono Grignolino

Grignolino Piemonte DOC by Cascina Isabella

This Grignolino from Piedmont is exactly the light and bright red that you want to have in a bag in box on your table or at your picnic. Light red, loaded with fresh, fruity aromas of small berries complicated by the signature spicy note of black pepper at the end. Grignolino is a traditional, native grape of Piedmont that is grown only in this region and that is not common to find in bag in box. We recommend to enjoy it slightly chilled (52F). Made by Cascina Isabella in Monferrato from Certified Organic grapes, it is un-fined and unfiltered (suitable for Vegans).

This Grignolino from Piedmont is the perfect guest for your next party! Thanks to its freshness and pleasantly spicy notes, it pairs perfectly with simple traditional Italian dishes such as Pane w Salame (Salami sandwich), a slice of pizza or a pasta with tomato sauce. The best pairing ever is with vitello tonnato, a typical Piedmontese meat-based appetizer with a mayonnaise and tuna sauce. Try not to come back for it!

  • Sfusobuono Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir Provincia di Pavia IGT by Calatroni

100% Pinot Noir made in a fresh, spicy, light and tasty style from Calatroni’s certified organic vineyards in Oltrepò Pavese, Lombardy. This is one of the most historical areas for Pinot Noir in Italy, which was originally planted here by Napoleon’s French soldiers in the 1700s. An expression of Pinot Noir that easily recalls France's famous wines, but offering here a less austere and uncomplicated charme. Loaded with aromas of fresh strawberries and light pepper notes, it ends with a subtle, delicious finish. Easy to drink all year long: with your feet deep in the pool or in front of a steaming stew with a blanket on your knees.

Made from Certified Organic grapes, it is un-fined and unfiltered (suitable for Vegans).

This fresh and juicy Pinot Noir is ideal for the most Italian aperitivo: Rosetta con Salame, the iconic round bread with a crunchy crust and a soft crumb, filled with slices of Salame (possibly Milano). Are we in Italy yet?
